Oracle Data Center Technician Salary 2026: The Real $56k-$113k
Oracle publishes a hiring range on its United States job postings. On September 3, 2026 an open Data Center Technician 2 role in Allen, Texas posted at $27.07 to $54.13 an hour, which Oracle states as $56,300 to $112,600 a year. The midpoint is about $40.60 an hour.
That band is Oracle’s own number, not an estimate.
Oracle prints a pay line on its US requisitions, and almost every salary page written about this job ignores it in favour of a crowd-sourced average.

Oracle prints the pay band on its own job postings
Oracle states pay in one line on its United States requisitions.
On hourly roles it gives an hourly range and its annual equivalent. On salaried roles it gives the annual range only, in a sentence that reads “US: Hiring Range in USD from: $X to $Y per annum.”

The band is twice as wide at the top as it is at the bottom
$54.13 is exactly two times $27.07.
A range that doubles from floor to ceiling is not really a pay signal. It tells you Oracle will hire this title anywhere from about $56,300 to about $112,600 depending on who walks in.
For comparison, Digital Realty posts its entry Site Engineer I in Ashburn at $37.50 to $41.00 an hour, a band 9 percent wide. QTS posts its Critical Operations Technician I bands about 53 percent wide. Microsoft’s entry technician band is 57 percent wide.
Only Amazon and Meta publish ranges as wide as Oracle’s.
So the useful number on an Oracle posting is the middle of the band, about $40.60 an hour, roughly $84,400 a year at 2,080 hours. Treat the floor as what Oracle will pay someone who just clears the two-year bar, and the ceiling as what it will pay someone it is trying to poach.

How we built this table. Two of these eight titles carried a published pay line on a requisition we could read on September 3, 2026. The other six did not. Rather than fill those cells from a crowd-salary site, we left them empty and said where we looked.
The annual figures on the Data Center Technician 2 row are Oracle’s own. Multiplying $27.07 and $54.13 by 2,080 hours gives $56,305 and $112,590, which is the $56,300 to $112,600 Oracle prints on the same posting, so the arithmetic on that row is not ours. Oracle publishes no bonus target and no equity grant value for any data center role, so no total compensation figure appears on this page as a fact.
What the crowd-salary sites actually say
It is worth knowing how thin the alternative is, because the alternative is what most pages on this topic are built from.
Glassdoor showed 35 salaries submitted for Oracle Data Center Technician and a median total pay of about $61,000 when checked on September 3, 2026.
The Indeed figure of roughly $40.97 an hour is built from 71 job postings rather than from people.

Every large operator numbers this job and no two of them use the same numbers.
Oracle puts a plain number after the title, as in Data Center Technician 2 and Data Center Technician 3. On engineering titles the same ladder runs further, as in Site Reliability Developer 4.

Why searching “level 3 data center technician salary” gives you nonsense
Three different companies mean three different jobs by it.
An Amazon L3 is an entry technician. An Oracle Data Center Technician 3 is a senior one. A Google Data Center Technician II already holds the job Oracle would number 2.
When you compare two offers, compare the years of experience asked for and the posted band. Never the number.
There is no government wage figure for this job title
The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not publish an occupation called data center technician.
The closest official category is computer network support specialists, and the BLS median wage for computer network support specialists was $76,220 in May 2025.
Read that as a floor reference rather than a benchmark, and read the projection beside it honestly: BLS expects that occupation to shrink 3 percent between 2025 and 2035, because it counts corporate help desk and network support work alongside data center work.
The growth sits in the industry category instead. BLS projects computing infrastructure providers, data processing and web hosting to add 120,400 jobs and grow 25.1 percent over the same decade.
Oracle vs Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Equinix, QTS and Digital Realty

That is above Meta’s Aurora, Illinois band at $84,000, Equinix’s Ashburn critical facilities band at $84,200, Digital Realty’s Site Engineer I at $81,600, Amazon’s Mississippi server band at $79,600, CoreWeave at $74,000, QTS at Ashburn at $71,800, Equinix’s Dallas night shift at $67,000 and Microsoft’s entry band at $63,100.
It is below Amazon’s four-state server band at $88,500, Equinix in Silicon Valley at $91,800, QTS at Manassas at $93,300, Microsoft’s senior band at $94,300, Google’s Data Center Technician II at $102,000, Meta in Arizona and New Mexico at $107,000, Amazon’s facilities track at $107,700, Digital Realty’s Lead Engineer at $111,800, Meta in Ohio at $131,000 and Google’s senior band at $147,500.
So Oracle is a middle-of-the-market payer with an unusually wide door. Amazon’s facilities track and Google’s entry technician band both pay roughly $18,000 a year more at the midpoint for work at the same rung. Four operators found the same hourly ceiling without agreeing on it
Look at the top of the hourly bands in that table.
Oracle tops out at $54.13 an hour. QTS at Manassas tops out at $54.25. Digital Realty’s Lead Engineer tops out at $54.80. Microsoft’s senior technician tops out at $56.54.
Four companies, four separate compensation teams, and a spread of $2.41 an hour between them.
That is where the hourly technician market ends. Past roughly $56 an hour you are not getting a raise in this job family, you are changing job families, which is the real argument for reading our data center technician to engineer path.
The exception in the table is Amazon’s facilities track at $65.91, and Amazon gets there by treating the mechanical and electrical side as a different job from the server side. QTS runs the same logic with its QTS data center salary ladder, and Digital Realty data center salary bands follow suit.
Entry level at Oracle: two years of IT, 75 pounds, and a trainee door
Oracle’s published bar at Data Center Technician 2 is two or more years working in an IT environment.
No degree is named anywhere on the posting.
What it does ask for is troubleshooting experience on servers, networking devices and IT equipment, and the ability to lift 75 pounds.
The preferred list is where a candidate can separate themselves: data center experience, Linux administration, structured cabling experience, and a working grasp of cooling and electrical systems concepts.
The published floor on that band is $27.07 an hour, about $56,300 a year. That is the lowest number Oracle will put in writing for this job.
If you do not have the two years, Oracle runs a paid trainee route. It calls it the Data Center Catalyst Program and describes it on its own careers site as a paid trainee pathway into data center operations where you learn alongside experienced teams. Oracle publishes no pay figure for it.
Oracle also shows the rung above the technician seat, describing a move from data center technician to site lead, which means overseeing operations for a region.
One note on shift, because the shift is the job. The Allen posting describes a 24/7/365 position on site that includes day and night shift, weekend and holiday work.
Bonus, stock and shift pay: what Oracle publishes, and what it does not
Oracle publishes a pay range on the posting and nothing else about your package.
There is no published bonus target for a data center technician. No percentage of base, no range, nothing.
There is no published signing bonus and no published equity grant value. Oracle’s postings say a role may be eligible for bonus and equity, and that sentence is the whole disclosure.
There is no published shift differential schedule either, which matters on a job that runs nights, weekends and holidays.
Anyone quoting you an exact Oracle technician bonus percentage or a dollar RSU value is quoting a number Oracle has never published.
How to negotiate against a band this wide
The posted range is your only lever and the midpoint is your only reference point.
On a $27.07 to $54.13 band, the midpoint is $40.60 an hour. Anchoring there is defensible because it is arithmetic on Oracle’s own published numbers, which is more than a recruiter can say for a market average.
Ask two questions before you sign. Where in the band does this offer sit, and is the premium for nights and weekends paid on top of the rate or built into it.
Both answers exist inside Oracle and neither is on the internet.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the business you would be working in
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, almost always written OCI, is Oracle’s cloud computing division and the part of the company that owns the data centers.
The job title says data center technician. The organisation on the offer letter says OCI.
Oracle states that it runs more than 50 public cloud regions across 28 countries, of which 41 are commercial regions in 26 countries and the rest are sovereign and government regions.
Four of those commercial regions sit in the United States: US East in Ashburn, Virginia, US Midwest in Chicago, Illinois, US West in Phoenix, Arizona, and US West in San Jose, California.
That list matters when you read a salary page. Any table quoting an Oracle data center technician salary for Seattle or Austin is quoting a city where Oracle runs no commercial cloud region.
OCI revenue was $18.1 billion in Oracle’s fiscal 2026, up 77 percent year over year, on total company revenue of $67.4 billion. It is the fastest growing line Oracle reports, and it is the reason this job exists.
Oracle is how you get an OpenAI data center job
OpenAI does not hire data center technicians.
Its Stargate sites are developed and operated by partners, and Oracle is the largest of them.
OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank announced five new Stargate sites on September 23, 2025. Three of the five are Oracle sites: Shackelford County, Texas, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, and a Wisconsin site developed with Vantage Data Centers.
The announcement says those three Oracle sites are expected to create over 25,000 onsite jobs.
Read that number carefully, because “onsite jobs” in a developer announcement is not the same thing as permanent operations headcount. It blends operations staff, on-site contractors and usually the construction crew as well, which we take apart in detail in how many people work at an AI data center.
The figure that is easier to trust is the hiring itself.
When Oracle began staffing the first Stargate campus in Abilene, Texas, the openings included one Senior Manager of Data Center Operations, three Data Center Site Leads, one Senior Data Center Commissioning Engineer, two Build Delivery Engineers, a Physical Security Manager, two IT Business Implementation Analysts, and more than 35 Data Center Technicians plus night technicians, as reported on January 29, 2025.
Applicants had to be willing to live within 50 miles of the site, with relocation help available.

Two things fall out of that list.
Oracle’s operating footprint is small, four United States commercial regions against dozens for the larger clouds, so the operating technician seats are concentrated in a handful of metros. And all the growth is in Texas and the southwest, which is where the Stargate builds are.

Is Oracle a good company to work for right now? Two facts, in tension
Oracle employed 141,000 people at May 31, 2026, down from 162,000 a year earlier.
That is 21,000 jobs gone in one fiscal year, and Oracle’s own annual report gives the reason: the adoption and deployment of AI technologies across its operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to its workforce.
Over the same twelve months Oracle spent $55.7 billion on capital projects, up from $21.2 billion, and its contracted but unbilled backlog went from $138 billion to $638 billion.
Both things are true at once, and they are not a contradiction.
The jobs Oracle is cutting are software, support and back office roles that AI tooling absorbs. The jobs Oracle is adding are the ones that need a person standing in a building at 3am replacing a failed GPU tray.
A data center technician seat is close to the safest place to stand inside a company shedding a seventh of its workforce, because the capital spending that pays for it is contracted years out.
The risk to price in is a different one. Oracle has shown it will cut 21,000 roles in a year when the economics change, so read “Oracle is hiring hard” as a statement about this cycle rather than a promise about the next one.
Oracle in nine numbers
Oracle Corporation trades on the New York Stock Exchange as ORCL and runs a fiscal year ending May 31.
Fiscal 2026 revenue was $67.4 billion, up 17 percent, per Oracle’s own fiscal 2026 earnings reporting.
Cloud infrastructure revenue, the OCI line, was $18.1 billion for the year, up 77 percent, and $5.8 billion in the fourth quarter alone, up 93 percent.
Remaining performance obligations, which is contracted revenue Oracle has not billed yet, stood at $638 billion against $138 billion a year earlier.
Capital spending was $55.7 billion, against $21.2 billion a year earlier.
Headcount was 141,000 at May 31, 2026, against 162,000 a year earlier.

Data Center Technician 3 is Oracle’s senior technician grade, one step above the Data Center Technician 2 role that asks for two years of IT experience. Oracle’s number is not a company-wide pay grade the way Amazon’s L numbers are. An Oracle 3 is senior, while an Amazon L3 is entry level.
Does Oracle pay a signing bonus or stock to data center technicians?
Oracle publishes no signing bonus, no bonus target and no equity grant value for data center roles. Its postings say only that a role may be eligible for bonus and equity. That makes the posted hourly band the only number you can verify before you negotiate.
Is Oracle a good company to work for as a data center technician?
Oracle cut 21,000 jobs in fiscal 2026, from 162,000 to 141,000, and spent $55.7 billion on capital projects in the same year. The roles being cut are software and back office. The roles being added are on the floor of buildings Oracle has already sold years of capacity in, which is a different risk profile from the rest of the company.
Does Oracle hire data center technicians for the OpenAI Stargate sites?
Yes. OpenAI posts no data center technician jobs of its own, and its Stargate campuses are operated by partners. Oracle staffed the first one in Abilene, Texas with more than 35 data center technicians plus site leads and a commissioning engineer, and three of the five sites announced in September 2025 are Oracle’s.

Oracle runs four commercial cloud regions in the United States: Ashburn, Chicago, Phoenix and San Jose. It is also hiring in Allen and Frisco, Texas, and building Stargate campuses in Abilene and Shackelford County, Texas, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, and Wisconsin. Texas is where the growth is.
