Quick answer. CoreWeave pays data center technicians $65,000 to $83,000 in base salary, the same published band in eight United States markets. The midpoint is $74,000. Ellendale, North Dakota and the general pipeline posting run to $85,000. Every figure here was read off CoreWeave’s own job board on September 5, 2026.
CoreWeave publishes a pay band on every United States job requisition it posts, including in Ohio, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, North Dakota and Arizona, where no state law requires it.
That makes this one of the few data center salary questions you can answer without guessing.

What CoreWeave publishes for a data center technician
A CoreWeave data center technician is an hourly-shift, salaried-exempt role that racks and cables GPU servers, swaps failed hardware, runs diagnostics and covers a 24/7 site on a rotating on-call schedule.
The posted band is one sentence long and CoreWeave prints it on every requisition.
It reads: “The base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $83,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.”
Eight live postings on CoreWeave’s own job board carried that identical band on September 5, 2026: Sandusky OH, Quincy WA, Lynnwood WA, Hillsboro OR, Marble NC, Phoenix AZ, Dalton GA and Afton TX.
Two postings sit slightly higher at $65,000 to $85,000: the Ellendale, North Dakota site, and the general “Express Your Interest” pipeline requisition that covers multiple US data center locations.
Ellendale is the only technician posting on the board that asks for years of experience, and it asks for three or more in a data center.
Every other US technician posting states no years requirement at all and lists an associate degree or equivalent IT experience as preferred, not required.
That is the single most useful fact on this page for a career changer.
CoreWeave has published technician roles that name no experience floor, while Equinix asks two to four years on every US technician requisition and Oracle asks two years minimum.
CoreWeave pays one national band, and no other operator does that
Lynnwood, Washington is sixteen miles north of downtown Seattle.
Marble, North Carolina is a mountain community in Cherokee County, near the Georgia and Tennessee lines.
CoreWeave posts the identical $65,000 to $83,000 band in both places.
Hillsboro, Oregon sits in the Portland metro and carries the same band as Afton, Texas, an unincorporated community in Dickens County.
Every competing operator prices by market.
Equinix bands step roughly nine to ten percent per market tier, which our Equinix data center technician salary guide documents off a single requisition that published three different bands for three cities.
QTS pays a midpoint of $93,300 at Manassas, Virginia and $71,800 at Ashburn, Virginia, two sites about 25 miles apart, a gap of 30 percent for the same job title.
CoreWeave’s own posting language says the starting salary “will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location,” and then the published band does not move by market at all.
Read that carefully, because it changes how you negotiate.
Any location adjustment CoreWeave makes happens inside the band, not to it.
A candidate in the Seattle metro and a candidate in rural western North Carolina are competing for offers drawn from the same $18,000 spread, and only one of them is paying Seattle housing costs.
If you are taking a CoreWeave technician role in a high-cost metro, the top of the band is the only figure worth arguing for, because there is no market premium sitting above it.

It is the closest thing that exists to a CoreWeave levels table, and it is built from CoreWeave’s postings rather than crowd-sourced submissions.

The midpoint and band width columns are arithmetic on our part, not CoreWeave figures. Band width is the ceiling divided by the floor, minus one. Two caveats apply to every row: a published band is a hiring range, which is not the same thing as an offer, and CoreWeave publishes no equity grant value, so no total compensation figure can be built from published data.
CoreWeave has no numbered technician ladder
People search for a CoreWeave levels chart because Amazon, Google, Equinix and Microsoft all run one.
Amazon grades technicians L1 through L6. Google posts Data Center Technician II and IV. Equinix uses roman numerals I through VI on two separate tracks. Microsoft uses ATR letter bands.
CoreWeave publishes one technician title with one band.
There is no Data Center Technician I, no Data Center Technician II, no Senior Data Center Technician and no Lead Data Center Technician anywhere on the board.
So the honest answer to “what are CoreWeave’s technician levels” is that the premise does not apply.
Crowd sites that show CoreWeave levels are showing engineering job families, not data center floor roles, and the two are priced nowhere near each other.

Most CoreWeave bands are the floor times four thirds, and the technician band is not
Line up the published bands and a shape appears.
Command Center Technician: $75,000 to $100,000. Fleet Engineering Project Manager: $99,000 to $132,000. Principal Operational Readiness Engineer: $198,000 to $264,000.
All three ceilings are the floor multiplied by exactly four thirds.
Five more land on the same ratio once you round to the nearest thousand: Operations Enablement Analyst ($109,000 to $145,000), Operations Program Manager ($134,000 to $179,000), Commissioning Quality Manager ($143,000 to $191,000), and both roles posted at $157,000 to $210,000.
Eight of the twenty-one bands in the table above follow that one rule.
The data center technician band does not.
A $65,000 floor times four thirds would put the ceiling at $86,700. CoreWeave posts $83,000.
The technician band is $3,700 tighter at the top than CoreWeave’s own house shape, which means the ceiling on that job was set deliberately rather than generated by the formula.
For a candidate that matters in one specific way: on a role priced by formula there is usually room at the top, and on this one there is not.

Where CoreWeave lands: fourth from the bottom
CoreWeave’s data center technician midpoint is $74,000.
Of the sixteen published technician bands in that table, only three pay less: Microsoft’s entry band at $63,100, Equinix’s Dallas night shift at $67,000, and QTS at Ashburn at $71,800.
Google’s entry technician band sits at a $102,000 midpoint. Amazon’s facilities track sits at $102,800.
Both of those are roughly $28,000 a year above CoreWeave at the same rung of the same job.
That result runs against the assumption most candidates bring to this search, which is that the fastest-growing AI cloud company must be the one throwing money at technicians.
It is not, and the reason is worth understanding before you take the interview.
CoreWeave’s technician sites are mostly in low-cost markets where it does not have to outbid a hyperscaler for staff: Sandusky, Ellendale, Marble, Afton, Dalton.
Google and Amazon compete for technicians in Northern Virginia, Oregon and central Ohio, where three operators are hiring off the same small pool.
Pay in this job tracks local competition for bodies far more closely than it tracks how much money the employer is spending on GPUs.
Compare the two anchor points: CoreWeave spent $6.4 billion on property and equipment in the second quarter of 2026 alone, and it posts a technician band $28,000 below Google’s.
Where CoreWeave does compete hard is above the technician line, and the published bands show it clearly.

The CoreWeave apprenticeship is the published way in with no experience
CoreWeave names its apprenticeship in its annual report, describing a program that works “with early-career individuals to provide hands-on training and experience across a range of specialties.”
The live posting gives the details the report does not.
The Data Center Apprentice Program pays $25 an hour, runs six weeks, and placed its most recent cohort from August 31 to October 9, 2026.
Apprentices train in Denton, Texas, then work at the Ellendale, North Dakota or Dalton, Georgia site.
No prior data center experience is required.
What the posting asks for is basic computer literacy, an understanding of hardware, the ability to lift 50 pounds, tolerance for a 60 to 90 degree Fahrenheit environment, availability for varied schedules, and a clean background check.
The work is real: troubleshooting hardware faults, assembling and racking servers, running maintenance, learning scripting, and doing root cause analysis on failures.
One line in that posting deserves more attention than anything else on it.
CoreWeave states plainly: “This position is not eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity, or a comprehensive benefits package.”
Six weeks at $25 an hour is roughly $6,000 gross, with no medical coverage attached.
The posting also does not promise a full-time role at the end, and it would be dishonest to tell you otherwise.
Weigh that against the alternative: the standard technician postings ask no years of experience and pay $65,000 from day one with full benefits.
If you can get hired straight into a technician requisition, that is the better door, and the apprenticeship is the fallback rather than the front entrance.

Bonus, equity and benefits: what CoreWeave publishes and what it does not
CoreWeave publishes one sentence about total rewards and it appears on every technician requisition.
It reads: “In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).”
The benefits the postings name are medical, dental and vision fully covered by CoreWeave, a 401(k) with an employer match, flexible paid time off, tuition reimbursement and parental leave.
Fully covered medical, dental and vision premiums is a real advantage and it is unusual at this pay level.
Here is everything CoreWeave does not publish for data center roles.
No bonus target percentage. The word CoreWeave uses is “discretionary,” which means no promised number.
No equity grant value, no vesting schedule and no cliff for technician roles.
No 401(k) match percentage.
No shift differential, no overtime multiplier, no on-call rate and no weekend premium, on any posting we read.
No employee stock purchase plan terms.
Any article giving you a CoreWeave shift differential figure or an RSU grant size is guessing, and the numbers floating around the internet on this point trace back to crowd-submitted estimates rather than to CoreWeave.
What can be said about the equity is factual and limited: CoreWeave went public on March 28, 2025, having priced 37,500,000 Class A shares at $40.00 apiece the day before, and it trades on Nasdaq under CRWV.
Equity awards to a technician are therefore in publicly traded stock with a real daily price, which is a genuine difference from a pre-IPO grant, and it is the strongest thing in the CoreWeave offer that does not show up in the base salary band.
Ask for the grant value in writing during the offer conversation, because it is the one part of this package nobody can look up for you.
Data center jobs above the technician line at CoreWeave
The technician ceiling at CoreWeave is $83,000, and there is no senior technician title above it.
So the question for anyone planning a career here is what the next step actually is.
Two roles sit just above, and both are still floor jobs.
The Command Center Technician in Kenilworth, New Jersey pays $75,000 to $100,000 and is remote mission control for the whole CoreWeave fleet, monitoring building management, power monitoring and DCIM platforms across every site.
That posting carries the most specific shift language on the board: permanent 12.5-hour night shifts on a fixed two-week rotation, working two on, two off, three on, with every other weekend off.
It asks for two or more years in mission-critical environments and it involves no hands-on hardware work, which makes it the clearest published exit from the raised floor into a control room.

The Global Security Operations Center Operator in Livingston, New Jersey pays $65,000 to $95,000 on a 24/7 rotating schedule and asks for two or more years in a dispatch, emergency operations or critical-infrastructure monitoring role.
Above those two, the ladder leaves the data center floor entirely.
The next data center titles by pay are the Operations Cost Analyst at $108,000 to $143,000 and the Operations Enablement Analyst at $109,000 to $145,000, both of them desk roles posted in New York, Livingston, Sunnyvale, San Francisco and Bellevue.
The highest published data center bands belong to engineers and managers who never touch a server: Principal Operational Readiness Engineer at $198,000 to $264,000, and Staff Business Systems Engineer for Data Center Systems at $188,000 to $275,000.
The gap between the technician ceiling and the next rung is $25,000, and the gap between the technician ceiling and the top of the data center org is roughly $190,000.

CoreWeave data center technician pay in Canada
CoreWeave posts one Canadian data center technician role, in Cambridge, Ontario, at $75,000 to $117,500 CAD.
The job description is the same as the American one, down to the wording on the 24/7 rotating on-call schedule and the preferred associate degree.
The pay structure is not the same at all.
The Canadian band is 57 percent wide against 28 percent in the United States, which means CoreWeave is running a different levelling model north of the border, most likely folding several seniority steps into one requisition.
Converted at the Bank of Canada daily exchange rate of 1.3789 on September 3, 2026, the Cambridge band works out to roughly US$54,400 to US$85,200.
So the Canadian floor sits about $10,600 below the American floor in US dollars, and the Canadian ceiling sits about $2,200 above the American ceiling.
The midpoint lands near US$69,800, roughly $4,200 under the American midpoint.
For an experienced Canadian technician the Cambridge posting is the better of the two, because it is the only CoreWeave technician requisition anywhere that publishes real headroom above the American ceiling.
For someone starting out it is the worse one, because the floor is lower.

CoreWeave splits its hiring into three groups, and the pay follows the group rather than the city.

One name is missing from that table and its absence is the point.
CoreWeave posted no data center technician job in Ashburn, Virginia, and no technician job anywhere in Loudoun County, on the day we read the board.
Its Virginia footprint shows up as Richmond, Clarksville and Chester, all well south of Data Center Alley.
Anyone who tells you Ashburn is CoreWeave’s top-paying technician market is describing a job that does not appear on the board.

Who CoreWeave is, in numbers
CoreWeave, Inc. is a GPU cloud provider that rents AI compute capacity, listed on Nasdaq under CRWV since March 28, 2025.
It ran 43 data centers at December 31, 2025, across the United States, Europe and Canada, operating in six countries.
Active power was over 850 megawatts at that date and reached 1.5 gigawatts by June 30, 2026, with roughly 3.7 gigawatts contracted for future deployment.
Revenue was $5.1 billion for 2025 against a net loss of $1.2 billion, and second quarter 2026 revenue alone was $2.58 billion.
Revenue backlog stood at approximately $104 billion at June 30, 2026, against $60.7 billion of remaining performance obligations at the end of 2025 and $15.1 billion a year before that.
Capital spending on property, equipment and software was $6.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026 alone.
Headcount was 2,189 employees at December 31, 2025, with 1,967 in the United States and 222 spread across 19 other countries.
Put those two figures side by side and you get the number that explains the pay band.
Roughly 51 employees per data center, counting every salesperson, lawyer and accountant in the company.
CoreWeave does not break out operations headcount separately, so no honest operations-only staffing ratio can be calculated from its filings, and we are not going to invent one.

There is no BLS occupation called data center technician
Plenty of salary pages, this one included until today, have quoted a Bureau of Labor Statistics figure for “data center technicians” under SOC code 17-3023.
That code is not data center technicians.
SOC 17-3023 is Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technologists and Technicians, a different occupation covering 96,900 jobs, with a median wage of $78,190 a year or $37.59 an hour in May 2025 per BLS wage data for electrical and electronic engineering technologists and technicians, updated August 27, 2026.
BLS projects that occupation to grow 2 percent from 2025 to 2035, slower than the average for all occupations.
The correction matters here for one reason.
Against that $78,190 median, CoreWeave’s $74,000 technician midpoint is roughly 5 percent below the comparable federal wage figure, not 16 percent above a national average as this page previously claimed.
The growth story lives in a different BLS series anyway: the industry category that holds data center operations is projected to add 120,400 jobs and grow 25.1 percent from 2025 to 2035, which our data center workforce shortage analysis unpacks.
What to do with this if you are taking a CoreWeave offer
Three things follow from the published bands.
First, the base salary conversation has a hard ceiling of $83,000 and no market premium above it, so pushing on location is a dead end at this company in a way it is not at Equinix or QTS.
Second, the equity grant is the only unpublished, negotiable number in the package, so that is where the conversation belongs, and you should ask for the share count and the vesting schedule in writing.
Third, if you are choosing between employers rather than negotiating with one, the table above says a Google or Amazon technician role pays roughly $28,000 a year more at the midpoint, and no amount of AI-company excitement closes a gap that size.
What CoreWeave offers instead is a door that opens without three years of experience, fully paid medical coverage, publicly traded stock, and sites in markets where $74,000 is real money.
For a career changer with no data center background, that combination is worth more than the $28,000, and for an experienced technician in a coastal metro it is not.
